The Maharashtra VERS team’s continued efforts to help Anganwadi sevikas in getting print-deprived tribal children of Palghar to engage with books have begun to bear fruit. Following continued demonstrations and follow-ups and the efforts of the Anganwadi sevikas, the children have begun showing an interest in the books. They now spend time in the reading corner and have also started to ‘pretend read’ to tell the story.
The team emphasised to the sevikas the need to read simple, relatable stories which have large pictures and are light on the content.
