20 families set up learning corners, 30 more in progress
In February 2025, the Parvarish ke Champion (PkC) program in Chhattisgarh launched a powerful home-based initiative—Learning Corners—to extend Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) beyond Anganwadi Centres into children’s homes. With support from the Women and Child Development Department and UNICEF the initiative began in Raipur district, covering villages like Mohadi, Tewraiya, Khilora, Dunda, and Temri. These corners, set up with simple materials, create a dedicated space where children can play, read, create, and take ownership of their belongings—fostering responsibility, independence, and a love for learning. The concept emerged from an internal PkC team discussion, led by District Coordinator Dr. Dipika Singh, and has already reached 20 households, with 30 more in the pipeline.
Through Learning Corners, homes have transformed into nurturing learning environments, complementing ECCE efforts at the AWCs. Going forward, the PkC team will use Palak Baithaks and Grih Bhet sessions to motivate more families to create their own Learning Corners—ensuring every child has a joyful and enriching space to grow, both in and out of the classroom.
