The continuous professional development of teachers lies at the core of Vikramshila’s efforts. The organisation works with teachers in a number of areas, reaching out to government teachers, NGO teachers and madrasah teachers in rural and urban settings in West Bengal, Tripura and other states.

        I.            Vikramshila’s Teacher Education Programmes – Induction Training (Foundations of Education), In service trainings, Subject Based Trainings, Early Childhood programme, trainings in subject content and pedagogy, Teaching Learning Material  development, assessment, remediation and school leadership.

      II.            Onsite Support to Teachers – School based support is provided to government schools, aided schools, government and private madrasahs. Demonstration lessons, developing lesson plans, developing educational resources, TLMs like work cards, picture cards  and workbooks, together with hand holding classroom support are some of the support provided.

    III.            Shikshak Sammelans, Seminars and Meetings - Shikshak Sammelans are a medium create by Vikramshila to generate dialogue among teachers on issues related to education, to enable them to share views and voices on areas o their concern. In addition to state and district level Shikshak Sammelans held in collaboration with fraternal organisations, also Vikramshila organises seminars on pertinent macro level themes as well as school and teachers meetings on ground level issues of classroom concerns and students achievements.

    IV.            Educational Literature and Resource Materials - To keep teachers updated on the current trends in the field of education, Vikramshila generates educational literature from time to time. This is generated in the form of periodical magazines, teachers’ handbooks, and resource books among others.
